# Your Panel, Your Way!

We’re introducing a powerful usability enhancement to your VisiLean experience: customisable task property panels. This feature allows you to control exactly how information is displayed when viewing tasks—whether individually or in bulk. With the ability to show, hide, and rearrange fields, your task panels can now reflect the unique needs of your project, helping you stay focused and efficient.

### **Why This Matters**

Task panels often contain numerous fields—some critical, others less so—depending on the stage or type of project. When unused or irrelevant fields clutter the interface, they can distract users, especially new ones, and slow down decision-making. By allowing teams to control what’s shown and in what order, this update ensures the interface stays relevant and aligned to actual workflows.

### **What’s New?**

* Toggle visibility of key fields like Constraints, Quantities, Attachments, and more.
* Reorder tabs to prioritise the fields you need most.
* Manage these settings directly within the property panel.
* Available to **Project Admins** and **Process Managers**.
* Changes require hitting 'Save' to apply, with warnings for unsaved changes.
* Hidden tabs preserve their data and restore it when toggled back on.

### **How It Helps**

This update provides a cleaner, more purposeful interface tailored to your project’s specific needs. It simplifies onboarding for new users by reducing visual complexity, improves data navigation for seasoned teams, and speeds up task reviews by spotlighting relevant information. With less noise and more structure, your team can work smarter and stay aligned.

### **Example Use Cases**

1. **Streamlining Early-Stage Projects**: In early design or coordination phases where quantities aren’t being tracked, the Quantities tab can be hidden entirely—keeping the interface lean and purposeful.
2. **Prioritising Key Operational Metrics**: On sites where daily labour updates are essential, the Workforce tab can be moved to the top of the property panel, making vital staffing data accessible at a glance.
3. **Simplifying Views for Subcontractors**: While the system does not currently support role-based customisation, a Project Admin can manually configure a simplified view by hiding non-relevant fields like Custom fields and Workforce (in case it is not used) before sharing tasks with subcontractors. This helps present a cleaner, more intuitive interface that supports adoption and reduces confusion.

### **Key Considerations & Caution Points**

**Project-wide Application:** The changes made in Panel Setting will be applicable for all the users in the project.

**Field Data is Retained When Hidden:** If a tab containing data (e.g. Quantities or Attachments) is turned off and later re-enabled, the data will remain intact.

**“More Options” are Fixed:** The **“More Options”** section in the task panel cannot be hidden. However, it can still be reordered like other fields.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Save Required to Apply Changes:** Changes to visibility and layout will only take effect after clicking the **Save** button. Navigating away without saving will discard any updates.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**No Reset to Default:** There is currently no option to restore the property panel to its original default visibility or layout. Users should review changes carefully before saving.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://changelog.visilean.com/changelog/release-2.0-2025/your-panel-your-way.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
